The Terrors suffered a comprehensive 4–0 defeat down the A23 against Redhill, struggling on a dry, dustbowl of a pitch.
The match began competitively, with both sides trading early blows. Tooting & Mitcham came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock when Max Oldham whipped a dangerous free-kick just wide of the post, leaving Redhill goalkeeper Sam Allen completely stranded.
However, the game turned on its head in the 29th minute. Redhill launched a free-kick into the box, and under heavy pressure, Tooting goalkeeper Ollie Pain flapped at the delivery instead of claiming it. The loose ball dropped perfectly for Archie Harland-Goddard, who patiently let the ball bounce before looping a header over the displaced Pain to open the scoring.
Just six minutes later, the visitors’ evening went from bad to worse. A sharp cross from the left flank carved open the defence, allowing an unmarked Aidan Brown to easily tap the ball home and double Redhill’s advantage before the break.
Tooting showed more intent in the second half, dominating possession as they tried to claw their way back into the contest. Yet, for all their time on the ball, they lacked any real penetration and failed to register a single shot on target.
The clinical hosts then put the game completely out of reach in the final 10 minutes. In the 80th minute, Alex Keating reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area, firing home from around 10 yards out. Deep into injury time, a miserable evening was compounded when a Sean McKillop corner floated directly into the net, sealing a dominant 4–0 victory for Redhill.
