An unusual pre-match incident delayed kickoff by fifteen minutes at Sean Devereux Park, where a solitary first-half penalty saw Yateley United secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Tooting & Mitcham United. While fixture delays are typically caused by travel complications or equipment issues, this Combined Counties League Premier Division South encounter was held up so grounds staff could clear the playing surface of extensive goose droppings.
Once play commenced, a tight and evenly balanced first half developed. The hosts created the first significant opening after thirteen minutes, but the returning Antonio Simeone was on hand to clear the danger for the visitors. Ten minutes later, Simeone himself went close at the other end, forcing a sharp save from Yateley goalkeeper Hugo Sobte to keep the scoreline level.
The defining moment of the match occurred one minute before the half-time whistle following a cleared corner. The assistant referee spotted an off-the-ball incident between a Yateley player and visiting goalkeeper Ollie Pain, resulting in a straight red card for Pain. Without a substitute goalkeeper on the bench, Simeone took over the gloves but was unable to stop Noah Stewart’s subsequent penalty in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, which gave the hosts the decisive lead.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, the visitors neutralised Yateley’s attack throughout the second half. As the match progressed, the Terrors’ ten men began to find more joy in possession and earned a golden chance to equalise in the 70th minute when Michael Onovwigun was fouled inside the penalty area. Timothy Obisanya stepped up to take the spot-kick, but Sobte produced a crucial save to preserve Yateley’s lead. Despite heavy pressure in the final 20 minutes, the Terrors failed to find a deserved equaliser.

Our Emirates FA Cup dreams are over for another season after we went down by the odd goal in five in front of a crowd of 291.
The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes when an excellent move down the left saw Charlie Clover fire home. The same player scored again after 25 minutes following a quick break to double their advantage. Clover was only denied a first-half hat-trick by a fine save from Ollie Pain just before the break. At the other end, Max Oldham had a shot well saved by Reece Hobbs.
We got on top in the second half, and the pressure finally paid off in the 75th minute when substitute Aaron Smith-Joseph squeezed the ball past the keeper. Just four minutes later, Oldham levelled the scores when he fired home after a fine solo effort.
Just as extra time was appearing on the horizon, the visitors were awarded an 88th-minute penalty. Substitute Lewis Hayward-Oriogun scored from the spot, and as hard as we tried, we could not find a late equaliser.

A goal in the sixth minute of injury time forced us to face a cup replay, just as it looked like we were going to hang on and progress to the next round.
The home side took the lead in the 2nd minute through Michael Finn, who was left unmarked from a corner. Alex Filipe hit the bar after 9 minutes following a pass from Tim Obisanya. We were level after 18 minutes when Sonny Hartnett-Blackwill headed home a Conor Melody free-kick.
We went ahead in the 32nd minute when Obisanya scored with a superb overhead kick following a Jordy Ndozid cross.
The second half was fairly even. The home side had a lot of the ball but continuously shot high and wide when in good positions. Just as it looked like we were going to hold on and move into the next round, a late goal by Omotunmise Akanni forced a replay.
Corinthian Casuals 0 Tooting and Mitcham United 2
Tooting bounced back from Saturday’s disappointing opening result with a commanding 2-0 victory over Corinthian-Casuals. In their first away fixture of the season, the Terrors produced a clinical first-half performance and a resilient defensive display to secure all three points in front of a fantastic travelling support.
The match began as a tight, cagey affair with both sides fighting for early midfield supremacy. However, Tooting & Mitcham gradually asserted control and broke the deadlock in the 29th minute. Conor Melody delivered a precise free-kick into the penalty area, which was met and headed back across the face of the goal by Sonny Harnett-Balkwill, allowing Success Eguzoro to nod home for a 1-0 lead.
Just nine minutes later, the visitors doubled their advantage from another set-piece opportunity. Melody turned provider once again, swinging in a dangerous corner. Corinthian-Casuals goalkeeper David Wloch failed to claim the ball under pressure, dropping it into the six-yard box. In the ensuing goalmouth scramble, Darral Wopara reacted quickest to tuck the ball home, sending the Terrors into the break with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.
Any hopes of a Corinthian-Casuals comeback were heavily dented just four minutes after the restart. Casuals player Conor Everitt earned his second yellow card of the match for a challenge on Jordy Ndozid, reducing the hosts to 10 men.
Ndozid was substituted shortly after the challenge, replaced by David Akano-Kouame. With the numerical advantage, Tooting & Mitcham pushed for a third goal. Both Tim Obisanya and Alex Filipe went close to extending the lead, but the final finishing touch was missing.
The home side fought hard in the closing stages to breach the visiting backline. The Tooting defence held firm, though they survived a late scare in injury time when Corinthian-Casuals’ Scott Day found the back of the net. The goal was promptly ruled out for offside, ensuring the Terrors kept their clean sheet intact until the final whistle.
A thoroughly well-deserved away victory.
Tooting and Mitcham United 1 Camberley Town 2
Tooting and Mitcham United suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat at Imperial Fields as a second-half header from Nick Thumwood sealed all three points for the visitors in front of a bumper crowd of 323 spectators.
The Terrors started brightly and took a deserved lead after just 10 minutes when Tim Obiscanya rose highest to powerfully head home a pinpoint corner from Conor Melody. Tooting thought they had doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute when Melody’s looping free-kick from near the touchline sailed straight into the net, only for the referee to controversially rule it out for a push in the penalty area.
The turning point, however, came just before the halftime whistle, when the visitors found an equaliser from the penalty spot. The referee spotted a foul in the box, allowing Nick Thumwood to step up and calmly convert.
Tooting came out firing after the break, seeing a header cleared off the line before Freddie Jones saw his goal-bound effort brilliantly turned away by visiting goalkeeper Pillinger. The inability to make possession count proved costly around the hour mark when Thumwood struck again, ghosting into the box to nod home from close range and turn the game on its head.
Despite a handful of half-chances, the visitors held firm. In the dying minutes, it was Tooting goalkeeper Ollie Pain who pulled off a magnificent save to deny Thumwood his hat-trick, but the Terrors ultimately fell just short despite a spirited, battling performance.
