Match Report

The Terrors returned to winning ways by securing maximum points against local rivals Balham FC in an entertaining derby match.

The visitors missed an early opportunity to take the lead in the eighth minute when Gabriel Mendoza found himself well-placed but fired his effort wide. The Terrors capitalized on that escape just nine minutes later. In the 17th minute, Antonio Simeone rose highest to head home a perfectly delivered corner from Alex Filipe.

The momentum stayed firmly with Tooting & Mitcham, and they doubled their advantage in the 29th minute. Aaron Smith-Joseph produced a moment of individual magic, leaving the defense flat-footed before finishing a fine solo run. Smith-Joseph nearly struck again just before the interval, but Balham goalkeeper Jack Roughton pulled off a crucial save to keep his side in the game at halftime.

Balham responded positively after the break, pulling a goal back just five minutes into the second half. Jean-Paul Hue-Sang found the back of the net with an excellent cross-shot to give the visitors hope. The Terrors pushed back quickly, and Jordy Ndozid nearly restored the two-goal cushion, only to be denied by another fine stop from Roughton.

The decisive blow landed in the 63rd minute. Conor Melody delivered a brilliant cross into the box, allowing Elijah Simpson to head home at the near post and secure the vital third goal. Tooting held on comfortably and had further chances to extend the margin of victory.
