Match Report
Fleet Town maintained their unbeaten record and position at the top of the league with a clinical 2-0 victory over Tooting & Mitcham United. The Combined Counties League Premier Division South fixture drew a season-best crowd of 466 spectators to a sun-drenched Imperial Fields.
The hosts carved out the first clear opportunity in the 10th minute when a defensive slip gifted Aaron Smith-Joseph a clear opening, but Fleet goalkeeper Harry White made a fine save to keep the game scoreless. Fleet Town capitalised on that reprieve and broke the deadlock in the 19th minute. After a foul in the area, Alex MacAllister confidently converted from the penalty spot to put the league leaders ahead. The visitors then struck a crucial second blow right on the stroke of half-time when Connor Holland rifled home a powerful strike from the edge of the box.
The second half proved to be a tighter affair with clear-cut chances at a premium for both sides. Tooting & Mitcham pushed to find a way back into the game, with Alex Filipe forcing another excellent save from White and Darrell Wopara going close from close range. However, Fleet Town defended resolutely to ensure a clean sheet and secure all three points.
