Tooting & Mitcham United

Mickey joined us from Hitchin Town at the start of the 1980-81 campaign, and as a youngster he saw service with Chelsea.

He was a midfielder who during his career also played for Carshalton Athletic, Epsom & Ewell, Sutton United, Wimbledon and Woking.

In his various spells with the Terrors he clocked up over 150 appearances scoring 8 times. He would score his first goal for Tooting in February 1981 against Wycombe Wanderers a team we struggled to beat at home as was the case here in a 2-1 defeat at Sandy Lane. His last goal for the club came in January 1988 against Malden Vale in a 3-1 home success in the Surrey Senior Cup.

When Mickey stopped playing he became part of the Tooting & Mitcham Reserves management team with Bob Langford and the pair guided the reserves to the Suburban League title in the 1988-89 season. Mickey and Bob were then promoted to take charge of the first team for the latter part of the 1988-89 campaign and for the following two seasons, just missing out on the play-offs in their final season together.

Mickey still visits Imperial Fields from time to time from his home in Norwich.
