Dean Morgan appointed new Chairman for Tooting and Mitcham United Football Club

Tooting and Mitcham United FC owner, Steve Adkins, has appointed Dean Morgan as the new Chairman of the club with immediate effect. Following a year as football Chairman, Phil Nightingale has moved across to the Vice Chairman role.
Dean has been increasingly involved behind the scenes at the club, working closely with others on ground works but also in terms of setting up a new youth team initiative covering U12 to U14 age groups as part of the club’s long-term player progression ambitions. Dean also serves as a Sports Advisor for Merton Council’s Borough of Sport initiative and has spent years volunteering across grassroots football in the borough, helping to develop pathways for young athletes and strengthen community participation. In addition, Dean also runs the onsite gym at the club which includes his own Kickboxing Academy, having been a senior international kickboxer and an international coach at junior level.

Phil took up the role for the 2025/26 season, and during the season the club achieved a third place league position and significantly improved attendances with Phil’s leadership contributing to a growing sense of optimism at Imperial Fields. Throughout the season Phil has worked on a number of ground improvement and maintenance projects, and led on pre-match stadium setup activities which he will continue with. Most importantly, Phil will be supporting Dean in his role as Vice Chairman.
Dean said “I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to club owner Steve Adkins for the faith shown in me through this appointment and for the shared belief in the long-term vision for the football club and wider community.”
Outgoing Chairman, Phil, said:
“I’m very happy to be staying on in a slightly different role and extremely pleased to be working with Dean. Looking forward to developing some of the initiatives we had discussed in the past months and can’t wait for the start of the new season.”
Steve Adkins said “I am very grateful for the work that Phil has done to continue the new positivity and growth at the club and for the support he has given during the year. I am confident that Dean will continue this work, and am delighted that Phil will be continuing to support the work in his role as Vice Chairman.”
We wish Dean every success in his new role and thank Phil immensely for all his work at the club.
