Tooting and Mitcham United 1 Raynes Park Vale 0

Tooting completed a derserved one goal victory against Isthmian League Raynes Park Vale to progress to the third round of the Surrey Senior Cup.

The winning game coming from Max Oldham who was on hand to pick up a rebound from a Michael Onovwigun shot from the edge of the area.

Cobham 2 Tooting and Mitcham United 0

Tooting succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at runaway league leaders Cobham.

The game got off to the worst possible start as a shot from outside the area in the 2nd minute found its way into the Tooting net.

Tooting responded well and had a number of decent half chances with neither side really having many clear-cut opportunities during the rest of the first half.

Cobham have conceded only 9 league goals all season and the outcome of the game was really sealed with a second goal on 56 minutes.  Again Tooting responded well but were unable to find a way of getting on the scoresheet.

Tooting and Mitcham United 2 Epsom and Ewell 1

Tooting secured their first home league win since September to go second in the league.

In a feisty and entertaining match, the away side were a constant threat but Tooting remained resilient to win a hard fought three points.

Tooting went into to the break with a Shay Brennan penalty on 15 minutes. The crucial second goal arrived courtesy of Taz Mahmoud in first half stopage time following a fine Tooting move.

The second goal proved vital as Epsom pressed hard in the second half, pegging a goal back on 67 minutes.  However the Terrors remained resilient and despite 8 minutes of second half stoppage time there were no further goals.

Harefield United 2 Tooting and Mitcham United 2 (Lost 5-4 on penalties)

In a first half largely dominated by the Terrors, we scored twice through Habeeb Adepoju and a first club goal by Sean-Michael Anderson.

The home side improved after the break, winning a penalty which they converted after 57 minutes.  Tooting still looked destined to win through to the next round of the League Cup however a free kick deep into added time found its way into the net by a Harefield striker to take the game to penalties.

Tooting lost the penalty shoot-out 5-4, missing with two efforts which both stuck the woodwork.

Guildford City 0 Tooting and Mitcham United 4

Tooting completed a comfortable victory in a game played in heavy rain.

A first half header from Ash Sheppard sent the Terrors into a half time lead of 1-0, although it could have been doubled if Alex Cruickshank’s penalty had not been saved.

Tooting were largely in control of the second half, scoring further goals without reply from Freddie Jones, Geovanni Johnson and a first club goal for Tim Obisanya.

Tooting and Mitcham United 0 Knaphill 5

A very bad evening at Imperial Fields ended in heavy defeat as Knaphill out-fought and outplayed a very poor Tooting side.

Badshot Lea 2 Tooting and Mitcham United 2

Tooting got off the perfect start as Geovanni Johnson scored with a header from a great cross from Alex Cruickshank.

Tooting were left to rue not taking a couple of chances when Alfie Edmonds fired home from 25 yards for the hosts in the 34th minute.

The second half was real end to end stuff with the a goal apiece. Firstly a Conor Melody freekick restored Tooting’s lead on 71 minutes, before Badshot converted a penalty on 77 minutes.

There could easily have been more goals – with the home side hitting the woodwork twice and the Badshot keeper making at least three saves when he looked like he would be beaten.

All in all another good point on the road for the The Terrors.

Tooting and Mitcham United 2 Balham 0

A much-changed Tooting team eased into the third round of the London Senior Cup.

Tooting won with goals from Alex Sheppard who finished after fine approach play from Max Oldham just before half time.

Tooting sealed the win in the 85th minute when a shot from Emmanuel Bestman was saved by the Balham keeper with the ball rebounding to Conor Melody on the edge of area who finished expertly.

There was time for Balham to win a penalty, however unfortunately for them the ensuing spot kick not only cleared Toby McKimm’s crossbar but also the roof of the stand behind the goal.

Tooting will play Bromley in the third round – date to be decided.

Chipstead 1 Tooting and Mitcham United 1

A feisty encounter against an in-form Chipstead team ended in 1-1 draw.

The first half ended goalless with both teams missing out on good chances.

Tooting eventually broke the deadlock in the 76th minute when a shot from distance from Declan Smith  was fumbled by the Chipstead keeper and found its way into the goal.

Tooting’s lead was howver quite short-lived as substitute Pele Dunn smashed the ball in from 25 yards as it broke to him from a corner.

A decent point won on the road and Tooting remain in 2nd place.

Fleet Town 2 Tooting and Mitcham United 3

Tooting’s visit to 2nd placed Fleet Town ended in victory, racing into a 3-0 lead at half time before facing a comeback from the home team in the second half.

First half goals were from Brennan, Cruickshank with a penalty and Wopara.

Inevitably, Fleet responded strongly in the second half pulling a goal back on 55 minutes.  Just as it looked like Tooting would see out the game Fleet themselves were awarded a penalty they converted on 81 minutes.

Tooting conitnued to work hard to keep the home time out.  Deep into added time, Simeone was sent off for dissent however Tooting held on to record another important victory and move up themselves second in the league.

Abbey Rangers 1 Tooting and Mitcham United 2

Tooting achieved a fine win at play off rivals Abbey Rangers to go third in the table.

Tooting took the lead in the 16th minute as Darral Wopara struck home.  Tooting were comfortable in the first half as the hosts rarely troubled Toby McKimm’s goal.

Abbey came out strongly in the second half, however Tooting went further ahead when they broke well with Alex Cruickshank on hand to finish a good move on the hour.

Abbey pulled one back with a nice move from a freekick, after which the game got somewhat messy with a number of yellow cards including a harsh second one for Wopara for alleged time wasting.as he prepared to take a free kick.

Tooting were forced to dig deep but rallied well and secured the win without too many significant alarms.

An important three points won.

Tooting and Mitcham United 2 Epsom and Ewell 1
